A clash between process and comfort.

This brings forward a question towards today’s architects: What and/or how should architects design?

Edward de Bono defines creative thinking as a skill, which leads me to think that architects should consider both how and what to design, through constantly updating this skill of creative thinking.

Design is a process with no limits, no end. Like Vivianne Marston said, “if you think your design is finished, you are neglecting any new ideas.” There fore it is important for architects to know more for this boundless process. Russell Lowe mentioned this idea when he said, “architects know a little bit of everything, engineers know everything about one thing.””

One thing that was not mentioned was the act of problem solving during the design process. Edward Bacon once said that, “design depends on what we know” and the more knowledge an architect has, I believe, the more problems he is able to solve.

RESOURCES:

HOW TO DESIGN LIKE AN ARCHITECT:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ws1fbpSfFf8

EDWARD DE BONO ON CREATIVE THINKING:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UjSjZOjNIJg

Lawrence Kimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11504244175074274361noreply@blogger.com
